| KIDSAVE INTERNATIONAL
The goal of eradicating institutionalization of orphaned and abandoned children is the motivating force behind Kidsave International. Through various programs in the U.S. and abroad, Kidsave finds families for these frequently forgotten children and helps them develop life skills for happier lives and futures. Kidsave’s initial focus has been in Russia, which has a high number of institutionalized children resulting from the country’s social and economic conditions. Kazakhstan and Columbia are now on the growing list of countries in partnership. Among the innovative programs to implement Kidsave’s goals are the following:
Summer Miracles
Each summer Kidsave brings children to the U.S.to live with families and attend local day camps. The program also fulfills the important objectiveof finding families and organizations to give support after the camp program ends.
Secure Futures Program
With its three-prong approach the Secure Futures Program identifies effective means to place children with permanent families, motivates the public to change attitudes and engage communities, and urges government cooperation and action. Secure Futures is the mainspring for a cluster of service programs as the following:
Small Miracles – Recruits families to mentor children by taking them into their homes for week-ends and holidays, with the goal of the children finding permanent homes.
Planning Life and Career – Offers series of classes and therapeutic sessions designed to assist orphans in acquiring the necessary skills for family, social and career integration
Sponsorship and Individual Mentoring – Gives opportunity to take English and computer classes and to establish mentoring relationship with an adult.
Club Perspectiva – Provides emancipated youth weekly discussions; individual and group counseling; classes for gaining independent living, higher education and successful employment.
